Tanaedra

Background

“We have angered The Mother and The Father my brethren. We have become arrogant and disrespectful to the glorious creators of The Known and The Unknown. We believe that this paradise, this existence of Perfection was from our own hands. We thought it was from our own doing. We have forgotten what The Mother and The Father have provided for us.

This is why they have beset this darkness upon us. This is why they have been purging the blasphemous. Our paradise is lost great Senators. In order to reclaim our paradise we must prove ourselves to The Mother and The Father. We must redeem ourselves in their eyes.

I have been visited by Rth-Ru, the Herald of The Mother and The Father. I was told that we must go to the land of imperfection. The land where we drove all the imperfect to, the land where they have forsaken The Mother and The Father. They worship false Gods and they practice witchcraft and sorcery. It is a land filled with chaos and war.

We are to go south and purge these lands of their imperfections. We must take the imperfect and make them perfect. We must bring them back to The Mother and The Father. For this is the only way to save our people and win back the favor of The Mother and The Father and thus bring back paradise.”

--- Speech by High Priest Ris-Mus
to the Imperial Senate and the Emperor
sparking the invasion.

One morning off the northern shores of the Isle of Ursus there were hundreds upon hundreds of ships on the morning horizon. People were in awe of their size and their beauty but one question was on everyone’s mind. Where did they come from? The Northern Sea was very cold, rough and harsh. No one has been able to build a ship strong enough and sea worthy enough to sail deep into the Northern Sea.

Smaller ships sailed in closer from the strange armada and landed on the shores of Ursus and Riva. Once at the shores the people aboard began to setup massive encampments. The Lords of the land sent troops and emissaries but they were attacked by the new and strange visitors. Soon both sides were building forces, thousands of men came ashore from the ships and just like that Riva was at war with an unknown people.

Once the war was truly engaged the forces of Riva stood little chance. The unknown army was swift, well trained, fierce and moved and acted almost as if they were one. Even with aid from their allies Riva could do little and within two months Riva fell to the invaders. Without stopping the unknown forces moved into Cosseli and within three months Cosseli also fell to the unknown people. Soon they moved onto Itius, however, they were more prepared. Despite some of the greater battles going in Itius’ way the people know known as the T’Catha defeated them within five months.

Actus was the fourth kingdom to be attacked by the T’Catha. Like the kingdoms before them they fought back with full force. The war was the shortest but perhaps the bloodiest as many Actus soldiers and citizens lost their lives in the war. Shortly after the conquering of Actus the T’Catha forces marched into Lithagand, Bolareos and Danycis and began to occupy the lands. Many of the occupations were done under diplomatic and negotiations with the local lords and land owners. Systematically the T’Catha proclaimed their dominance of each kingdom. Both Lithagan and Bolareos resisted but each resistance was minor and took less than a month each to bring down. Danycis is the only kingdom that fully surrendered without a military campaign or loss of life.

Within 18 months the dominant race of Verasia had become a conquered people. While their kingdoms where kept in place along with their names they were now known as The Empire of Tanaedra. Within two years of their initial invasion the Empire of the T’Catha was recognized by all the remaining kingdoms as an official nation. Diplomatic lines were open as well as commerce.
