A brief description of the characters and their motives (as described by the players):
- John "Lightning" Chance - Mick
- John Chance was a ranch hand until a dispute over cards caused him to shoot someone. he learned he was fast really fast and became a gunfighter. He has come to justice looking to become a lawman and put his talents to use on the side of good rather than as a gunslinger fo hire. H tries to disguise his speed most of the time becasue he fears it makes him look like a freak.
- Leonidas Pippindale. - Joe
- A educated man who felt a sudden need to depart for the west. He is hopeing to collect information concerning the possible causes of the current upsurge in human mutations and believes that Utah with it's pull in the direction of independent goverment is becomeing a haven for those fleeing federal and religious persecusion.
- Leroy Brown - Tim
- Leroy is a ranch hand. While working on the Circle K ranch there was a terrible wagon accident. Rosco was trapped under the wagon and when Leroy was picking up the wagon to save Rosco, he picked up the whole wagon and the horse that pulled it. This act of strength scared Rosco and as a result Leroy was chased from the Circle K. Now Leroy finds himself in Justice looking for work.
- Honorable Reverend Cletus Playfair - Steve
- Reverend Playfair has heard rumors of the mormons and their polygamous ways and he's here to find out if the rumors are true. Along the way he's hoping to help a few heathens find their way to the Lord. He's not a fire & brimstone kind of guy, although he knows they await those who don't lead a clean life. He tries to lead by example, but unfortunately, he himself is not without sin.
- Zachariah "The Ghost" Blackheart - John
- Zachariah is an AWOL US Army soldier, although he takes great pains to keep his military service hidden... He presently finds work as an actor playing bit parts out of the spotlight. He is uncertain why he has powers, and struggles with them as a "curse of the damned". He is tall and lanky in appearance. He is also somewhat pale and sickly looking.
