Allies
Baylas
Baylas is the only son of Aradon. Like his father, he serves Pelor. He is a missionary and travels the land seeking converts among the savages. He is currently working out of the temple in Oldcastle, but he has not been seen or heard from in 8 months. Many believe he is dead, but Siras, his high priest, does not.
Hadras
Hadras is a monk from the strange lands to the South. His reasons for being in Oldcastle are unknown and for this reason some fear him. Those few who have tried to learn more about his life before coming to Oldcastle have been stymied, even when using magical means of detection. He is making a reasonable living teaching his skills to the locals. A few of his students are being taught more than basic techniques. His methods are demanding and his more serious students are often bruised and exhausted following a workout. Those who dislike him claim he does this to intimidate and brainwash the students, others say it is a normal byproduct of intensive training.
High Priest Seris
Seris is the ranking priest of Pelor and in charge of all temples in Old Castle. He is a good man and looks out for Lo when he can.
High Wizard Malthor
Malthor is the most powerful wizard in Old Castle. He runs the Arcane Academy and heads the Wizard's Council for the Barony. Malthor's life was once saved by Malvan's father and in gratitude he took the boy on as his apprentice.
Pia
Pia is the devoted wife of Baylas. She currently works for the temple of Pelor in Oldcastle as a cook. She is eagerly awaiting the return of her husband. She is a doting, motherly figure who was clearly once very beautiful.
Saris
Saris is the high priest of Pelor in Oldcastle. He is a gruff taskmaster who believes that most of today's priests don't put enough thought into the glorification of Pelor. He advocates studying hard, praying incessantly, and being a devoted servant of the God and, of course, the temple.
Vicktor
Vicktor is the son of the Baron. While his father is not fond of them, he considers the players his entourage.

Captain Bralor
Jason's uncle is the commander of Old Castle's forces. He is spiteful and mean hearted, believing only in strength and force. He has no respect for Jason or his friends and even less for his own brother and Ser Focker.
the Black
the Black is a necromancer of some skill and power. His current whereabouts are unknown, but it is certain that wherever he is, there is trouble brewing for the forces of good. Some say he is the heir of Skavos. Others, speaking only in whispers, say he IS Skavos, somehow returned from the dead and bent on vengeance. No one knows his true name.
Groups, Cults and Cabals
The Deathbringers
The Deathbringers are three men and a woman who are followers of the Lords of Light. Tharuk, their leader, is a priest of Pelor. He and his team made a name for themselves when they stumbled onto one of the Black's plots and drove him out of a border town. They travel the west, searching for signs of the Black. Although powerful, they generally take up arms only against necromancers and their foul creations.
Heroes
Arund the Just
Arund is the most holy warrior of Pelor in the kingdom. Some call him the right hand of the sky. He rides a brilliant white warhorse which some say glows in the dark. He himself wears gold-enameled plate armor and carriers a sword with a sunburst filigree etched in the blade. He travels alone in the west, seeking to set things right where he finds that Pelor's interests, or those of the people, are not being served.
Dhalgrim
Tall and lean, Dhalgrim looks almost elven. He is a ranger in service to the Deathbringers. He rarely speaks to strangers and barely to friends. He was a prisoner of the Black for a time and it is said he still has nightmares about that time. He abhors the undead and claims to have stopped counting after killing his first thousand. It is said that he has never killed anyone that wasn't dead when he met them.
Illiyana
An elven sorceress, she rides with the deathbringers mostly because she believes in their mission. She is slightly flattered by the attention Venzini lauds on her but ultimately both know they will never be a couple. She favors evocations and knows very few enchantments.
Tharuk
Tharuk is a powerful priest of Pelor. He is Arund's younger brother. The two rarely ride together though as Tharuk prefers the company of his fellow Deathbringers. Tharuk is not as powerful as Arund, but he is more cautious and he and his team have earned a reputation as among the most-prepared hunters of evil in the world.
Venzini
Though none would guess it, Venzini and Dhalgrim are brothers. Venzini is short, somewhat squat, and very talkative. He is quite charming and is a master of gathering information. He knows someone or someone knows him nearly anywhere in the west.
Historical Figures
Aradon the Blue
Aradon was among the most powerful priests of Pelor of his day. He personally broke the strength of the necromancer Skavos and was a general in the king's army. Before becoming a member of the King's household, he was a very successful adventurer. He died about ten years ago of a curious wasting illness that neither magic nor herb could cure.
Violet
Violet was the wife of Aradon and the mother of Baylas. She died almost twenty years ago of the same illness that eventually killed her husband. Although she was a popular figure in court affairs, she was more matron than legend.
Townsfolk
Baron Markov
Markov is considered a good honest man. He does not like Vicktor’s associates because he believes (perhaps correctly) they are a bad influence on his son.
Recently: Most people believe that the Baron was killed by Vicktor who is now awaiting trial. He is dead, but the murder is much more complicated than that.
Baroness Clarissa
A kind-hearted woman, she likes Vicktor’s friends because she believes they, unlike most people, are not trying to use her son.
Recently: The Baroness is in hiding while Vicktor’s friends investigate her husband’s murder.
Sir Focker
Sir Focker is a retired and somewhat impoverished knight. He has recently joined the barony and is trying to make a go of it as a dairy farmer.
Recently: Sir Focker was badly wounded when his farm was attacked by a mixed force of orcs and goblins.
Unknown / Undecided
Dredd
Dredd is a priest of St. Cuthbert who styles himself the Law of the West. He believes he is doing a good thing by promoting law and punishing lawbreakers. The problem is that he cares only about law, not justice and so he is feared more than respected.
